What are you doing after high school?

 

Visit Longhorn College Central in P16 anytime for assistance with ANY of the below steps. We are here to help you navigate through your college and career journey.

I plan to attend a University (4 Year School):

  1. Fill out an application through Apply Texas: https://goapplytexas.org
  2. Send your test scores to your college through College Board for SAT https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/sat or https://act.org/

    for ACT.

  3. Request to send a transcript for each college you applied to by filling out the Request Transcript Form.The QR code for this form is posted on the Dobie Website and is hanging in P16, the counseling office, and the registrar’s office.

     

  4. Visit with Mrs. Lozano or Ms. Hardy for assistance in Longhorn College Central P16.

I plan to attend a Community College like San Jac:

  1. Fill out an application through Apply Texas: https://goapplytexas.org
  2. Receive your meningitis vaccination and submit the documentation. https://www.sanjac.edu/meningitis
  3. Take your placement test or submit exemption scores. https://www.sanjac.edu/placement-testing
  4. Ensure your final transcript is submitted. You will do this at the end of the year.
  5. For application to San Jacinto College, visit Ms. Lozano or Mr. Hewitt (Mondays & Thursdays) in P16.All senior level English classes will visit P16 to complete a San Jac application.

I plan to join the Military

  1. Contact a recruiter for your preferred military branch.
  2. Register to take the ASVAB. This is required. See your recruiter for sign-up information. The ASVAB will also be offered at Dobie this fall. See Mr. Cannon in the AP office for more information or email him at [email protected].

FAFSA Graduation Requirement: ALL STUDENTS

  • You must complete a federal or state financial application through FAFSA/TASFA. The application opens late December 2023. This opens later this year and an exact date has not been given at this time. You will use your parents 2022 Tax Information. https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa

Fee Waivers for college applications and SAT/ACT tests:

  1. Complete a free and reduced lunch application for the 2023-2024 school year:

  2. If you qualify for free and reduced lunch you may get a fee waiver for your SAT/ACT tests and college applications from Mrs. Garces in Longhorn Central (P16).
